    • Hi Manav,

If you refer to the abbreviations used, i.e.: AW – alternative wording (accept other ways of expressing the same idea); AVP – any valid point; then cross-check with the mark scheme – you will see if they accept the exact same answer or any correct answers as long as it’s valid.

The best place to find out this information is the website of the university that you wish to apply for. They will list down all the required subjects in A Level and O Level. From there, you can decide what you must do.

  7. Are there any chances that Cambridge will change the grades after exam results are released if they find they gave wrong grades after exam results are released.

  8. Are there any chances that Cambridge will change the grades after exam results are released if they find they gave wrong grades

  9. I built my confidence but the A* did not follow 🙁 Did not even get a single A in my IGCSEs…. That’s just terrible. Does that affect my university choices in the future?

  10. Finally the wait was over. The results were out, and I was really happy to get a distinction. I would like to thank IGCSE centre, for providing me with the past papers on time. I got 4 A*’s(Maths, Physics, Chemistry and ICT), 2 A’s(Biology and Additional maths), 1 B(Economics) and 2 C’s(English as a first language and French as a foreign language).

  11. Hi IGCSE centre
I just wanted to thank you for your endless supply of papers which have saved my life. I got 9A*s and 1 A.
Just a suggestion- would be great if you could try to get the copyrighted papers for others to practice from
    More Power to you!

  12. May I know whether my marks will be deducted if I write 2 decimal place for angles or more than 3 significant figures in extended maths exam? Mark Scheme doesn’t mention these

    • Hi Pranav,

You can refer to the ‘examiner report’. You will be able to see the examiner feedback on the common error. There are actually a lot of common error related to decimal points.

If you refer to the instructions in the past exam papers, it says “If the degree of accuracy is not specified in the question, and if the answer is not exact, give the answer to three significant figures. Give answers in degrees to one decimal place.“

Always refer to the instructions and what the questions want you to do.

  13. Dear IGCSE centre,

When will the may/june 2017 session past papers be uploaded after the results are released on 10th of August?

    Thank you.

    • Hi Bob, we do not have a fixed date to upload the papers. We upload the past exam papers as soon as we get ahold of them – can be anytime after the results are released. You may need to check our website from time to time.

    • Hi Aisha,

The IGCSE examination is equivalent to Year 11/10th Grade, depending on where you’re from. Typically, the examination is taken by students age 14 – 16. However, there is no minimum age requirement, as long as the candidate is judged to have the ability and confidence to sit the examinations. You can read more here: http://www.igcsecentre.com/what-is-igcse/

As to where you can sit for the examination, you will have to check the British Council at your local area or you can also find a list of registered Cambridge schools in your local area here: http://www.cie.org.uk/i-want-to/find-a-cambridge-school/ and check with the school if they accept a private candidate.

  14. Hello IGCSE centre,

    one more question!

I actually want to ask you about Cambridge outstanding learner award, which is awarded to candidates showing excellences in a specific subject, or over a range of curricula, the point is though, I want to know how helpful is this in getting into Ivy league colleges, and what is my chance of actually getting one, I work hard and during school exams (which use past papers) I am at the top notch (97-100 ) in all subjects (except English, which I don’t mind much, as I am a science student) but I get that feeling that I wont be able to get the award (as well as getting pressure from my environment) like could you tell me some tips on how to get one (but please don’t remind me with your respective revision classes, which I can’t apply for some circumstances) and what is the minimum mark you think is needed for getting a top in the world award.

Sorry if this comment is painful to read, but I had to ask that some expert agent, and I would appreciate faster moderation and response.

    Yours faithfully,
    Diram

    • Hi Diram,
First of all, do not call ourselves an expert agent 🙂 We’re just here to provide advice and assistance to students & parents as much as we could.

The IGCSE Learner Award is to recognise exceptional learner achievement in Cambridge examinations around the world. The primary purpose of these awards is to celebrate and recognise the success of high-performing Cambridge learners. You can read more here: http://www.cie.org.uk/cambridge-for/teachers/outstanding-cambridge-learner-awards/

While getting the Learner Award will give you some brownie points, it does not make it easier to apply to any top universities, especially Cambridge or any Ivy League universities. This is because, these universities, sometimes, require more than just impressive grades. You will need to check with the universities on their admission requirement.

  15. Dear IGCSE centre,
I would like to know, what will happen if I write an answer correct but not included in Marking Scheme?

    • Hi Lily,

If you refer to the abbreviations used, i.e.: AW – alternative wording (accept other ways of expressing the same idea); AVP – any valid point; then cross check with the mark scheme – you will see if they accept the exact same answer or any correct answers as long as it’s valid.

  16. Dear Igcse center
Will we be penalized if we give answers to more than 3 significant figures in the igcse extended math board exam?
    Rishi

        • Hi Sara,

While we’re not sure which subject you’re referring to, always refer to the instructions and what the questions want you to do. You can refer to the instructions in the past exam papers or mark scheme for some guidelines.

    • Hi Rishi,

If the question asked to write in 3 significant figures and you didn’t, you may lose marks. You can have a look at the available mark scheme of the subject.

  17. Splendid! Before I got to know this site I was constantly switching between sites as some sites and papers the others didn’t. The papers here are organized neatly which gives the students a smooth experience. I did suggest all my friends to use it. So on thier behalf and mine I am saying thank you. Please do keep up your good work.

    • Hi Meg,

That is the paper we’re missing as well. However, we will keep updating the past exam papers. Do check the page from time to time.

  18. Dear IGCSE centre,

I would like to clarify three doubts :-
    1. If we write beyond the space given will the examiner reduce marks and if we want to write a question which have realized is incorrect then where are we supposed to write ?

    2. In our IGCSEs how do we fasten our work after finishing the test ?

    3. As per our CIE timetable for the O/N 17 series physics(mcq & theory) is on 7th Nov while chemistry(mcq & theory) is on 8th Nov, so how would we effectively manage our timetable ?

    Thank you

    • Hi Nisarg,

If you write out of the space given, no marks will be deducted. However, you will have to bear in mind that the answers you wrote out of the space provided might not fit into the scanned screen. You can just ask for a new answer sheet, label it correctly, and fasten it with your question paper.

You must confirm the method of fastening with your exam centre / the exam officer. The usual method is to tie with a string or stapler.

We hope you have finished your revision by then. You should be well prepared by then and with the remaining time – you can have a quick look at your notes and then, have a good rest before the exam day. You should not do any last minute revision just a day before the exam. That is the reason our revision courses are planned to finish before the exam starts: http://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-revision-courses/

    • Hi Shakthi,

If you refer to the abbreviations used, i.e.: AW – alternative wording (accept other ways of expressing the same idea); AVP – any valid point; then cross check with the mark scheme – you will see if they accept the exact same answer or any correct answers as long as it’s valid.
