Cambridge IGCSE Past Exam Papers

Cambridge IGCSE is being offered by Cambridge International Examination (CIE) board from The University of Cambridge.

*CIE (Cambridge International Examination board) has its name changed to CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education) since October 2017.*

* Note:

  • Updated up to 90% of Oct – Nov 2018 series past exam papers ? YAY!
  • “Specimen Papers” would be available when there is a change of syllabus for that year. Otherwise, “Specimen Papers” would not be available when the syllabus stays the same.
  • We only have the Cambridge IGCSE past exam papers. We do not have any grade 1 ? grade 10 past exam papers.
  • Please read through all frequent asked questions at the comment section below before posting your queries to us.
  • DO NOT download the past papers at last minute. We strongly suggest you to download everything you need at least 4 months before the exam.

In view of the recent incident (false report done by ungrateful students), our Google drive has become redundant. We are not able to share the files, and all the files are no longer be publicly accessible, even to people who have the link.

We worked 18-20 hours a day for the past weeks, trying to fix this issue by creating a new platform. Unfortunately the new platform has limitation and members would see error message when the limit is reached. Therefore we have decided to close the new platform as it is not working properly. (Members, please kindly check your full refund notification from PayPal. If you don’t see the notification in your inbox, please check your spam/junk box)

We suggest you to find alternative sources for past exam papers for the moment.

We thank everyone for your visits. We are still here to provide voluntary assistance to help you excel in your exams. Just leave your question at the comment box below.

    • Hi Maxen,

Here are some Speaking tips for you:

      1. Pick 3 or 4 practice exam questions that are different from each other (closest to what is expected in the latest syllabus). You can refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams.
      2. Prepare answers to questions that are likely to come up
      3. Find out how to pronounce the words and read them out loud.
      4. Learn your answers by heart. Learn your answers one phrase or sentence at a time. Select a chunk and repeat it to yourself over and over until you’ve got it.
      5. Understand and learn the questions. Look up any words you don’t know and learn to recognise keywords. Learn each question alongside the answer that goes with it.
      6. Learn two or three idiomatic phrases or sayings and memorise them. Go for sayings that could be used to talk about any topic or topic-specific ones that you know you’ll be able to use in the exam.
      7. Compile a list of topic-specific vocab that’s likely to come up. If you can, learn the gender of any nouns and the different tenses of any verbs. Learn the vocab so you can use and recognise it.
      8. Get a parent or friend to do a mock exam with you. Pay attention to where you slip up and then work on improving those areas.
      9. Make useful notes.

Lastly, practice, practice, and more practice. The speaking topics will be different based on the zone you’re in. You can use other variants as practice as well.

  1. Hello Igcse! My speaking exam is on 3rd April which is tomorrow and it is in another city so I have to take a phone with me but I read the instructions and it said we should not have a phone with us. What should I do?

    • Hi Amna,

Unfortunately, no mobile phones, or any other electronic devices, are allowed inside the exam rooms. Maybe if you know someone who can hold your phone during your exams. Or you can ask if lockers are available. We suggest you to get the confirmation from your school/exam centre.

  8. Hello IGCSE team,
I am truly upset and devastated to hear this sad news. This website is the number one reason why I received such amazing results last year when I did my IGCSEs. I am extremely thankful for all of your support and hardwork in helping me during the times I struggled. I pray that you will find a solution to this problem quickly as we all owe you a lot. Also please keep in mind that you have a lot of supporters from all over the world (including me). Please don’t give up and take good rest
    Thanking you once again!

    • Hi Rhysie,

We couldn’t confirm officially on the year of introduction of the variants. However, judging from the past exam papers, we find the variants first appeared in the November examination series in year 2009.

If you are interested in getting the official date, you have to contact the exam board.

    • Hello Jassim,

Here are some tips for you:

      – You need to read the question carefully and respond in an appropriate manner, paying close attention to the context provided.
      – Careful interpretation of the stimulus materials is required
      – Greater precision when explaining the significance of particular factors, avoiding generalisation
      – Be prepared for the demands of the open-ended/longer answer questions which require analysis and evaluation skills.

  9. Hi
I want to know if there is any article in you website about writing report and summary. (The last exercise in 0510 changed to writing a report)
    Thanks!

    • Hi Moha,

According to the 2019 syllabus set by CAIE (the exam board), question 6 would be to write a report, or a review or an article of approximately 100–150 words for Core and 150-words and for Extended, in response to a short stimulus. As such, there is no more fixed one format for this exercise. We suggest that you have to learn all formats: article, review, report.

But before you begin writing, decide if you’re going to write about the topic from two sides (for
and against) or from just one (your opinion). If you write a two-sided (balanced) piece of writing, remember to include your opinion in the last paragraph. If you want to write only from your own point of view, include it in the first paragraph.

Furthermore, try to think of your own ideas on the topic which match the task and include them in your writing. For each of the ideas included in your answer, support them with evidence or examples. Note, the examiner knows that the evidence or examples will be made up and doesn’t expect these to be correct.

Lastly, remember to organise your writing: include an introduction, a middle section and a
      conclusion.

With regards to writing summary, this article will help you: http://www.igcsecentre.com/how-to-write-a-summary/

  10. Hi,
It was really sad to hear that your google drive is having a problem sharing files cause due to someone unknown, but right now having past papers is currently important for our boards. Past papers were easy and reliable to access in google drive so can you please suggest any website through which I can get past papers access directly through my google drive. Cause searching for past papers again and again on google is difficult while some websites do not show all past papers ranging from 2002 – 2018. Can you also tell till what time will we get access to past papers through this website?
    thanks and regards,
    Meetrayu

    • Hi Meetrayu,

It’s very unfortunate that this has happened. We did our very best to help, but it couldn’t be done in a short period of time. We have to study all possible options to prevent incidents like this. We suggest that you google alternative source of past papers.

  11. Can you suggest some alternative website, in order to practise the past papers.
When I Google it, I can’t get any results and many websites are bogus.
    Can you please help me?
And when I can know that the past papers will be available in this website?
Please don’t allow this type of incidents to occur.
My suggestion is to make this website security to maximum.

  13. (From Shanghai Singapore International School, Shanghai, CN 624)
Hello IGCSE Team. My questions are:
    1) I have a tendency to explain everything in detail and fully develop my responses. However, I have noticed that I often run out of space, and have to continue my response to the question more often than not on another paper. As a result, may I write those answers (which I run out of space) on the Answer Booklet itself, so as to ensure myself maximum space?

    2) For IGCSE History, may we write five to six bullet points, instead of a well-furnished paragraph in Paper 1 [a] question?

    3) For IGCSE History, may we write our third [c] question of Paper 1 in bullet-form?

For instance, if we are running out of time but still have two/three paragraphs to write, may we write in bullet form, and extend them?
    Exclusively like this?
    -Point
    -Evidence
    -Explanation
    -Development
    -Link

Or must we always write in this style – sentence style in a well-furnished paragraph, even though if we would be thin on time?

    ————————-Point————————-. ————————-Evidence————————-. ————————-Explanation————————-. ————————-Development————————-. ————————-Link————————-.

    4) For IGCSE Business Studies, how can we structure our responses, so that our answers contain details within the mark scheme? Very often, even the teacher condemns the mark scheme answers, and even rates our answers’ content more suited for the particular Case Study. How can we ensure that the bias of the teacher who would actually be marking our IGCSE papers does not misinterpret the details of our answer, with respect to the mark scheme?

For now, we can discuss and push for marks with our teacher regarding reconsider her thoughts on the answer, and hence we may push for extra credit, but this wont be possible in the rea IGCSEs, and hence, I want to be certain.
    *
Thank you, and I hope to receive your response as soon as possible.

    • Hi Rudra,

      1. It it best to write on the blank pages provided within the answer sheet. Any blank pages that are used by a candidate in the examinations are scanned and marked as long as you properly label it.

      2. For part (a) questions, it is best to give precise and accurate details, give examples, and avoid generalised statements. It is suggested to write it in an appropriate form of a short paragraph and explanation is not required.

      3. For part (c ) questions, you need to have a clear structure in this answer so that the examiner can keep track of your points. Giving each point its own paragraph will help the examiner appreciate their value the way you want them to. Explain your judgements by comparing the factor in the question against other factors from your own knowledge to give a balanced explanation. These questions typically ask for your judgements using questions like ‘How far do you agree?’, ‘How significant?’, ‘How successful?’ or ‘How effective?’

To help you manage your time, try to keep to these in timings:
      • about 5 minutes on each part (a)
      • about 10 minutes on each part (b)
      • about 20 minutes on each part (c )

Candidates should avoid lengthy narratives and focus on explanation, analysis and evaluation.

      4. Here are some Business Studies Tips: demonstrate the application of knowledge and concepts using the given scenario. This doesn’t mean simply referencing the business name. Analyse the issues faced and make suitable recommendations as to what this particular business should do. Make decisions based on a range of evidence and articulate the argument. Always use the information provided in the case study or question stem as a guide in considering what to write.

In the real exam, you can always apply to re-mark your answer script if you think you should achieve higher grades. This option is always available for any exams. So, don’t worry about it.

  14. Dear IGCSE Centre Team

  22. Dear IGCSE Centre,

Thank you so much for all you’ve done for us students up till now. I am currently in Year 11 and doing my IGCSEs in the O/N 2019 session, hence this comes as very sad news to me as well as the students in my school. Though there are other sources for past years, IGCSE centre has always provided the most reliable and complete source of past years. I understand this is very hard for you and your team as all the hard work has been gone to waste: I hope that you guys are coping well with the situation. Once again, thank you for your service. Thousands of students around the world owe you one, including me.

  28. Hi igcse team,
i feel am still not ready to attend the igcse exams which will be a month and a half from now. I’m struggling in most subjects and am stressed out all the time. Can i have some tips to overcome these problems please?

    • Hi Nour,

You can revise the subjects from the beginning. Highlight the important facts that you think could be on the test (you should refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams). You can then use the past exam papers as your revision. Start with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older ones date back from 5 to 10 years. Then, revise on the most common mistakes that you always seem to make. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.

Lastly, we suggest that you find alternative source for past exam papers. We are not the only website with past papers. Kindly google them. Thank you.

    • Hi Doris,

After much thought and discussion (plus countless sleepless night rebuilding a new platform in a short period and in the end, the new platform is not working properly), we’ve decided to discontinue the “Gratitude Access” along with our library of resources until further notice.

As of the moment, we need to study all possible options and to do things properly without any haste. Kindly wait for our announcement by joining our newsletter. We suggest that you find alternative source for past exam papers. We are not the only website with past papers. Kindly google them. Thank you.

  29. Hey IGCSE Centre,

I entirely understand how hard a situation you are in right now. I used to completely rely on your past papers for assistance as they were easy to navigate and improved my grades immensely. I find it excruciatingly hard looking through other past paper sites, so would it be possible for you to share the following folders with me:
    First Language English (0500)
    English Literature (0486)
    International Mathematics (0607)
    Additional Mathematics (0606)
    Foreign Language French (0520)
    Physics (0625)
    Geography (0460)
    Music (0410)
    Chemistry (0620)
    Computer Science (0478)

I know I am asking for a lot. But i would be forever grateful if you could share those resources with me (just asking you to share them through google drive). Please readily tell me if I could come as help in any way and I would be able to support you throughout this rough patch.

    Thanks and Regards.

    • Hi Ravtej,

Thank you for understanding. Our Google drive has become redundant. We are not able to share the files, and all the files are no longer be publicly accessible, even to people who have the link. We suggest that you find alternative source for past exam papers. We are not the only website with past papers. Kindly google them. Thank you.
