If you are a private candidate you will need to contact the exams officer at the school / exam centre where you have taken your exams.

Can students view their results online?

Cambridge has created the Candidate Results website, which candidates can use to view their results online.

Login details for the Candidate Results Website are issued by Cambridge Schools. If you were not issued with login details or have lost them, please contact the Examinations Officer at your school / exam centre. CIE is unable to assist if you lose your login details.

How do I find out my exam results?

All Cambridge students should contact the examinations officer at their school / exam centre for information on results. CIE is unable to inform students of their results directly.

I have lost the username and password for the Candidates Results website. Can you issue them to me directly?

Login details for the Candidate Results website are issued by Cambridge schools. If you were not issued with login details or have lost them, please contact the exams officer at your school.

Important information:
The Candidate Results website is administered by schools and not by CIE, so CIE is unable to assist if you lose your login details.

I have received X on Result/ No Result/ Pending, what does this mean?

For each qualification these indicate that a result cannot be issued because of absence for the whole or part of the examination in the syllabus or because of a decision not to issue a result for some other reason.

The exams officer at your school will be able to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of the exam process including your examination results, certificates and results enquiries.

Please read more on what are the IGCSE grading means HERE.

How do I submit an enquiry about results?

Cambridge cannot accept enquiries about results directly from candidates or parents but if you speak to the exams officer at your school / exam centre, they will be able to help you.

All answers to general queries about “enquiries about results” can be found HERE. Download A Guide to Enquiries About Results and Appeals to know more about the processes.

I deserve a better grade than the one I was awarded. What can I do?

The exams officer at your school / exam centre will be able to help you so please contact them for further information. They will be able to provide advice and guidance on all aspects of the exam process including your exam results and certificates.

When will I get my hard copy Statement of Results?

Schools outside the UK will be sent hard copy Statements of Results in late August for June series, and in late January for November series.

UK schools no longer receive hard copy Statements of Results, but can download electronic copies from the CIE Direct homepage when results are released online. Six weeks after results release, Statements of Results will be removed from the CIE Direct homepage. To access them you will need to log in to CIE Direct, visit the ‘Administer Exams’ section and click on the ‘File Transfers’ tab.

If your school is in the UK, your exams officer will be able to provide you with a print-out of your statement of results. If you have any further questions, please speak to the exams officer at your school.

Missing and/or Incorrect Statements of Results

What should schools do if their Statement of Results are missing?

If your school is outside the UK, hard copy Statements of Results will be despatched in late August. If you do not receive your Statements of Results, please email info(@)cie(dot)org(dot)uk with your Centre number in the subject line. If your Centre is in the UK, you will not receive hard copy statements of results. You can download statements from the CIE Direct homepage or from your MIS package when results are released online. Six weeks after results release, Statements of Results will be removed from the CIE Direct homepage. To access them you will need to log in to CIE Direct, visit the ‘Administer Exams’ section and click on the ‘File Transfers’ tab. Please contact CIE if your statements are not available to download.

What should schools do if the information on the Statement of Results is incorrect?

Schools should contact CIE immediately with details of any errors in school or candidate names on Statements of Results, so that the required amendments can be made before final certificates are issued. An administrative fee is payable on requests for name amendments received after the following dates:

– 15 September for the June examination series
– 14 February for the November examination series

When will certificates be issued?

Certificates will be sent to Cambridge schools by the middle of October for June series, and by the middle of March for November series. If you have any further questions, please speak to the exams officer at your school / exam centre.

The school name will not appear on certificates issued to private candidates.

My university will not accept the provisional results provided by Cambridge. What can I do?

Candidates can apply for a Certifying Statement of Results to be sent directly to universities or other institutions. This is an official document issued by Cambridge which shows the grades obtained by a candidate in a given examination series.

You may request this service by submitting a Priority Results Information Application Form. This form includes full details and costs of this service.

What happens if I get a lower grade when I resit my examination?

If you resit a Cambridge examination, you will simply have two results for that qualification. It is then at your discretion which grade you choose to represent your level of attainment.

The final mark sheet will only state information regarding the corresponding examination series, so there would be no indication of the amount of attempts you have taken at an examination.

What is a Verification of Results?

Verification is a letter, confirming details and grades of a certificate supplied to Cambridge from a third party on behalf of an individual candidate.

Cambridge will verify a candidate’s results to third parties (i.e. university, employer, etc.) at the request of a candidate, but not directly to the candidate. The result of each applicant is checked against our permanent record. The verification supplied is based wholly on that record.

A third party requiring verification of a candidate’s results can, with the candidate’s permission, apply for our Third Party Verification of Results service. The appropriate application form can be obtained from CIE’s website. Please note that a copy of results is not sent with this service. If a hard copy of results is required, please apply for a certifying statement of results.

I have lost my IGCSE certificates, what should I do?

If you have lost your exam results certificate, or need another copy of your results, CIE can issue you with a certifying statement. If you would like to receive a certifying statement, please complete the application form HERE.

The form explains what you need to do before CIE can send a certifying statement either directly to you or to any public institution. The certifying statement shows all grades, except ‘UNGRADED’,’NO RESULT’,’PENDING’ or ‘TO BE ISSUED’ results, obtained by the candidate at a single examination series.

A certifying statement will be accepted by universities and other institutions as proof of your examination results. Correctly submitted applications will be dealt with within four weeks of receipt.

  1. Hi Sir,

I have appeared fisrt time in exams in year 2017 through an institute but got some low grades. Can i resit or retake subjects as a private candidate?

Also is it possible that i can retake them after some extended time limit like one or two years means in year 2018 or 2019? or is there any restriction and time limit for retake?

    Please advise. Thanks

There would be no problem if you wish to retake your exam. Just go to the Pakistan local British Council and register to sit for the exam.

Can i know if there is other way i can show them my results in case the official certificate will take time to be given by the british council in my country?

  4. i had given my Environmental management ig in march 2017. I had lost my statement of entry (SOE) for that particular Igcse after receiving the login details. i did not know that we needed our certificates and merely taught that a printout of the online result would suffice. the University i am applying for, requires a clarified and authentic certificate of all my given igcse’s. I will not get my scholarship without my EVM grade. My school has said that we need the SOE to acquire either the login details or the certificates.i have my 2018 march SOE for 6 subjects What do i do?

  5. Does the statement of result has been included with the threshold of each country or is it just A* is 90% and A is 80%

  6. Hi. How to apply in India for equlant mark as they give is in grade like A B c.. But mci need equlant certificate so guide me how do u can have it.?

    • Hi Shakeel,

Since we do not know your matric system, we cannot provide proper suggestions for you. Kindly ask the college/university directly as they would know how to convert your scores into their system.

    • If you did register for ICE during your exam registration and have fulfilled the requirements of the subjects, then you are qualified for the Cambridge ICE award. You will be placed in one of the three categories:
Distinction – Grade A or better in five subjects and grade C or better in two subjects.
Merit – Grade C or better in five subjects and grade F or better in two subjects.
Pass – Grade G or better in seven subjects.

In your case, you will be classified as Distinction.

  7. Hi igcse centre i was wondering if you will get marked down for not skipping two lines for every question in igcse economics?

    • Hi Jennifer,

It is ideal to leave spaces in between your answer so that the examiners can read your answers clearly. However if you did not skip two lines, the answers must be properly labelled. As much as possible answer all of one question together, in the correct order, i.e. from (a) to (d). This is for two reasons. One is because there is a logical sequence in the sub questions so that, for instance, answering part (b) may help candidates to form their answer to part (c). The other reason is that answering questions out of sequence risks candidates missing out some sub questions or committing rubric errors.

  8. Dear sir ,

I have done my 4 exams in October /November 2017 series private candidate but till now I have not received my certificate also have not received any call from my centre for certificate collection kindly please advice .
    Thank you very much

    • Hi Kazim,

Normally, CIE sends the certificates after provisional results are released. If you have yet to receive your certificate it is best to contact your Centre directly. It is your responsibility to contact your exam centre, not the exam centre should call you.

  9. my sixth form school is asking for 2 A’s and 3B’s so I can secure a lace in Geri sixth form college if I get an A* in one of my subjects does it cancel a B and an A?

    • Hi Yinda,

IGCSE does not calculate Grade Point Average for students. What have you achieved are the final grades. As such, if you get an A*, it does not cancel your B and A.

As there is no universal way to calculate GPA, we recommend that you contact your chosen university or a credential evaluator to a calculate your GPA.

    • Hi Kazim,

Yes, Grade F is a pass. However, if you plan to further your studies, you must get the confirmation from respective school/college/university on this matter. Each school/college/university has its own entry requirement.

Fail is when you see ‘UNGRADED’ on your Statement of Results.

      • Dear sir ,

Thank you very much for your quick reply , how about g grade and how about someone gets grade f and g maybe in 4 subjects do you issue certificate
        Thanks

        • For the subjects with a grades, from A-G, it is considered pass.

You will obtain individual certificate for each subject.

  10. Hello, I cant find my statement of entry and my first exam is after a couple of days, is there a way I can get another copy printed or emailed?
    thanks in advance

    • Hi Aysha,

Kindly coordinate with your school/exam centre directly regarding this matter. Only your school/exam centre could provide the statement of entry for you.

  11. Hello , i really want to know what might be the consequences if i wrote my candidate number in the place of centre and centre number in the place of candidate… i have a friend who did that. I hope it will be ok.

    • Hi Sam,

There are some cases if the name and center number is written on the paper then CIE can trace the candidate number and still manage to grant the grade to the candidate properly. It will just cause some minor manual handling… So next time please read the instructions and write properly.

But you may contact CIE, http://www.cie.org.uk, directly regarding this matter.

      • thank you , but it was ict practical and i wrote my centre number correctly and candidate correctly on the fold sheet. i really want to know if it will be sent with the fold sheet then i will be in the safe ….i am remember that i wrote everything on their correct places but messed up in the question paper…. and i wrote my name centre number and candidate on the printed documents… will that be helpfull for them to track me?? and record my results?? i worried so i need an answer plz…. !!

  12. Hello
What will happen to the igcse results in the event that the exam papers go missing after the exam has been taken?

  13. Dear Igcse center,
I know it is very demanding but i hope that you can reply as quickly as possible, i have a deadline for the fees tomorrow. Can you please tell me the minimum subjects i can sit for this year?
Last year, during may/june 2017, i had given my environmental management and due to some issues, I wanted to know if i could write only 4 (maths, english, biology and IT) for this year may/june 2018 and give my 2 (chemistry and physics) others during oct/nov 2018?

you’re webpage is truly appreciated and thank you for the free pastpapers
    Thank you,

    • Hello Maya,

We’re glad we are able to help you.

To answer your question, if you are a private candidate, it is always good to split the subjects in different examination series, so you can have full concentration in less subjects in one go. But in the end it is up to you to decide which is best for you. We cannot decide for you regarding this matter, as only you know how ready you are for the exams.

  14. Greetings IGCSE team,

Hi, I am from Malaysia and I have lost my IGCSE certificate for A2 which was issued about 6 years ago. From the link provided above, it states that request for applying for a certificate statement must be made within 18 month time frame from the date of issue of the original Certificates. What should I do if I want to have a certifying statement now?

  15. I am now an As level student, my results in IGCSE were mostly A or A* except for mathematics which due to some external circumstances my result came out yesterday as Ungraded, now I’m thinking about doing a re-appear on June, but at the same time, my As level exams are already booked on june, Is this allowed? Will it have any consequences on my profile when I apply to Universities?
Please respond ASAP, as tomorrow is the last day for submitting my form without having to pay late fees!
    Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Emad,

Yes, you can retake any subject for improvement during the AS/A Level period. However, do check on the exam dates, and make sure they do not clash with the AS/A Level exams dates.
With regards to applying to university, it is best to check with your preferred university for their admission requirement.

  16. Right now I’m getting only 3A* but I’m trying to work harder and harder especially in my physics and chemistry but I am not getting the result I need your guidance.

    • Hi Sanjana,

With Physics and Chemistry, you’ll need a lot of practice. Start your revision as early as possible and spend at least 2 to 3 hours every day on revising:

      1. Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: http://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ).

      2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers (http://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/ ). Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.

      Tips:
Minimize your reference checks. Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.
You can also try associating the formulas with certain things you enjoy, for example, a TV show.

      Hope this helps 🙂

  17. so i recently got my igcse results and unfortunatly i got slightly lower grades that i didn’t expect and i was surprised, so i’ve been wondering if there is a possible way to view my actual exam papers to see my mistakes or to see how was my answer strategy in the exam papers to hopefully make me understand better in my exams and get better grades next time.
hope to see a reply soon and thank you.

    • Hi Kareem,

No one would get back their exam papers. Just apply for re-marking if you feel you should obtain higher marks. Please apply the re-marking with your exam centre.

  18. Dear IGCSE team

My sisters candidate number changed half way through her exam series in November 2017 and the results that came out this January were very unexpected.
She submitted her English language coursework under 0925 as well as her French and Spanish oral exams. Our center then gave her a new candidate number 0002 for the rest of her exams.

Is this a possible mistake? It seems unusual that in the same subject and same series someone could have two different candidate numbers for different components.

    • Hi Fynn,

You must speak with your sister’s exam centre regarding this matter. Otherwise, you can speak with the exam board, CIE, for this matter. Only the exam centre and exam board could help you in this regard.

  19. Hello there. My sister is sitting for her IGCSE exams in May of this year and when we checked the subject list in the Malaysian British Council website , we found out that Development Studies was not on the list. Is it okay if she sits for it in the October / November series? Thank you.

  20. Dear Sir/Madam,
Is it possible to register and have paid fees at a certain centre and later want to take the same papers during the same session in another centre.

    • Hi Maria,

When you have registered your subject with exam centre 1, you must sit for your registered subject exams with exam centre 1.

You cannot sit for your subject exams with exam centre 2.

If you wish to change the exam centre, you must go back to exam centre 1, and ask them on the exam centre changes procedures.

  21. Greetings Igcse team,
Can I get the October/November 2017 examination paper of economics? I have to practice then as I am appearing for an examination in March.
    Thank you for your assistance

    • Hi Vinayak,

The October/November 2017 past papers will only be available after the release of the results in January 2018. You can use the available past papers for practice for now 🙂

  22. Due to the grades being subjected to grade thresholds which let’s say for example a 80% is an A%, will they still give the percentage?

  23. Dear the IGCSE team,
Does requesting a replacement statement of results allow you to choose the subjects you wish to be published, for example, say I took 10 IGCSE’s but wishes one to be missed out on the statement? Is this possible?

    • Hello Nana,
We don’t think that is possible. But you must write to CIE to get that confirmation, as CIE is the exam board.

  24. I gave my IGCSE examinations in March 2017. I got an 87(A) in English Language and both my teacher and I were disappointed as my predicted grade had consistently been an A*. Is there absolutely any way I can still apply for a re-evaluation? Anything at all?

    • Hi Simran,
You need to speak to your school/exam centre regarding the re-marking. Please speak to them as soon as possible.

  25. Is it better to do 2 of my exams in the end of grade 10 and then 2 or 3 in oct/nov of grade 11 and then the rest in may/June of grade 11 OR to just do them all together in grade 11??

    • Hi Hiba,
You may decide which is best for you. We cannot decide for you regarding this matter, as only you know how ready you are for the exams. If you are a private candidate, it is always good to split the subjects into different examination series, so you can have full concentration in less subjects at one go.

    • Hello Sajiya,
No. You must collect your certificates from your exam centre. In your case, it would be the school. You must go to the school to collect them.
