  1. Hi,
Im taking the IGCSE exams thing may/june.
My parents and I were considering what to do for my education after that. The choices were either to take the IB course offered at my school, or to continue somewhere else and take A-levels. Could you tell me what is the difference, and which one is more recognised by universities around the world?
Which one would you suggest I take?

    • Hi Amelia,

They are both well-recognised. We can suggest you to find out from the universities that you would like to apply. Call them up, and ask them if the do accept IB or A-Level for the course that you want to apply. In this way you get a better idea on which path to take.

  2. Can u kindly assist me to convert my IGCSE grades to Italian grades?
    B, C, C, C, D, E

    Thank you very much!

    • Hello Noa,
You have to get the advise from the Italian school to help you in this. We do not know what is the gradings for the Italian schools.

  3. Hi
My son age is 14 ( 04-Oct-2001) ,currently he is pursuing IGCSE (appearing for checkpoint) ,my question is can he appear for the exams in 2016 to complete O level
    Thanks
    Sravan

    • Hi Sravan,
If your son is sitting for Checkpoint this year, we afraid he might need to sit for IGCSE exam in 2017, not 2016. IGCSE is a 2-year programme. We do not recommend rushing through it.

          • I don’t mean English as first language. I mean what if I didn’t take any first language. Not English, not Czech, not Russian, nothing. I’ll ONLY take a second language. Is that possible?

          • Hello Selena,
Perhaps you want to articulate your question properly? Your very first question asking us “Is it possible to take English as a second language without having a first language?”, that gives the understanding of you’re talking about English subjects. Be ware when you’re writing your exam though 😉

So the bottom line is, you can take only English as Second Language. You do not need “any other first language subjects” in order to take English as Second Language.

Read our article above on subject groups. You must take one subject from the English Group. That is one of the core subject groups.

  4. Could I know what is the scoring system for 2015’s IGCSE Additional Mathematics exam? I mean what’s the range of scores to getting an A*, A, B, C, D or E… Thank you!
