Hi IGCSE Centre ,
I have my accounting exam on 17 May and 23 May , Please Guide me ..
Thank You
Hi Divanshu,
With Accounting, you’ll need a lot of practice.
1. Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/).
2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
Tips:
– Make sure that you use the information given in the question. The data provided is there for a purpose.
– Use accounting terminology in your answers as much as possible.
– Plan your answers. If ledger accounts or financial statements are required, think carefully about how these should be presented before you attempt to actually write your answer. If the question is a theory question, think about the points you need to include. Plan the order of your answer so that it is clear, concise and not repetitive. Quality is better than quantity.
– When you are asked to comment on some figures, results or ratios do not simply repeat these figures. You are expected to interpret these figures and results and use them to support any recommendations or advice
Hello, IGCSE Team
Which grades are considered high and acceptable to acquire the top universities?
Thank you!
Hello Henry,
Each university has their own set of entry requirements. It is best to check with the university directly.
hello IGCSE centre
I have been extremely confused as to how many papers I would have to write in my IGCSE exams for accounting (0452) and I would be very grateful if you cleared my confusion. Also, I really appreciate what your website does for IGCSE students and how your team takes the time to reply to every comment a student makes and I sincerely hope that you find a way to upload resources again.
thankyou
Hi Shreya,
Thank you for your kind words. There is a compulsory combination of papers needed for each subject and each combination has a different option code. Please consult your teacher / exam centre properly, before you make any mistake.
Alternatively, you may check your administrative zone here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-exam-schedules/, to find out your variant code. Then download the syllabus here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/, to know the combination you want.
Are schools allowed to make their own grade thresholds for the test year or do they all have to follow the Cambridge CIE grade threshold?
Hi John,
Every year, the exam questions have slight differences on the level of difficulty. In order to provide equivalent A* achieving chance, the threshold is used to determine the grades for that year.
A grade threshold is the minimum number of marks that a candidate needs to obtain a particular grade in a paper or in a subject. These thresholds are decided after each examination has been taken and marked. The aim in each year (or examination series) is to set each threshold in just the right place to ensure that it is no more difficult and no less difficult to obtain that grade than it was in the previous year.
Lastly, all schools follow CAIE’s grade threshold.
