I need some tips on how to score good marks in math, please.

With Maths, you’ll need a lot of practice.
1. Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ).
2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
Tips:
Minimize your reference checks. Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.
Show your working. You may get some credit even if your answer is wrong. Writing down your working can also help you to spot errors you have made.
You might be interested with our exam model answers. Model Answers are sample A* answers for past exam papers. You would see what kind of answers you need to write in order to score A*. If your workings for math are done in pencil, would it affect marks?

If you believe that you wrote it clearly using pencil, it would be marked accordingly.
Good evening, will marks be deducted for the hand writing in the (0544) papers.
And is there additional marks given if the hand writing is neat.

There’s no penalty for poor hand writing and there is no additional marks given for good handwriting. As long as your answers are legible and are clear to read, the examiners will mark it accordingly.
