Dear IGCSE Centre team,
I would like to ask about IGCSE ICT Paper 1 (Theory). In ‘Discuss’ questions, our teacher and various mark schemes have stated that 1 mark is for a reasoned conclusion. But I am not aware on how to write the conclusion. The mark scheme does not specify this. So what should I do next?
Hi Dhruv,
Upon checking the Examiner’s Report, discuss question requires more detailed answers covering both advantages and disadvantages. This type of question is looking for comparisons between the two methods rather than descriptions. In order to achieve high marks on these types of question candidates needed to read the scenario then give answers related to it. The examiners awarded a mark for giving a reason for the method used in the form of a conclusion.
We suggest that you download the Examiner’s Report from here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/ then study what are the needed points to gain marks. You could also learn the common mistakes candidates made during the exam.

Hi,
I have a question regarding English 0500.
While going through the marking scheme for a paper 1 summary writing, i encountered the following remark-
“If a candidate lists more than one point per line, they cannot receive marks for both even if they are right.”
Therefore,
I did not understand what this point clearly because will the size of the handwriting matter?.
So please could you explain this point to me.
Your help with be greatly appreciated.
Hello Bob,
The meaning of “one point per line” is the content of your writing. This means that you will not earn marks if you do more than what is required. We suggest that you answer directly the question and keep within the word limit. For more tips, kindly read this article: https://www.igcsecentre.com/how-to-write-a-summary/#. Our model answers will show you what is an A* answer is like for the writing questions/exercises: https://www.igcsecentre.com/igcse-exam-resources/
Lastly, the most important thing is to write legibly. The size of your handwriting doesn’t matter. As long as it clear and easy to read.
Hope this helps.

igcse how can i prepare for my igcse coordinated science paper 6 please give some advice?????
Hello Devi,
Paper 6 or the Alternative to Practical paper is simply an alternative mode of assessment to Practical examination paper. It requires the same kind of practical work in preparation as the Practical Examination paper. The syllabus ( https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ) makes it clear, in the Aims, the Assessment Objectives and Practical Assessment sections, that the course should be thought practically and that candidates should have experience of doing (rather than merely seeing) experimental work. The Alternative to Practical paper assess the practical skills, including both data handling and familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.
Here are some tips for you:
– As with all exams it is essential that you read practical exam papers very carefully. You must follow the instructions on the paper so that you do the correct experiments and record the correct observations. If the question tells you to record results or observations in a certain place you must record them in that place.
– Do not panic if the context of the practical experiment appears unfamiliar. Where appropriate the question paper will tell you exactly what to do and how to do it.
– If you find yourself in real difficulty setting up your practical equipment you may ask your supervisor for help. You will only lose one or two marks for this.
Hope this helps.
