does that mean we right different papers in one session with those in another place or its just for learning purposes.

    • Hello Mai,

Information & Communication Technology (0417) and Computer Science (0478) are two different subjects. Thus, they have different syllabus.

In Information & Communication Technology (0417), it encourages learners to develop lifelong skills, which will be useful to them in their work across the curriculum and prepare them for future employment. They will develop understanding of the implications of technology in society, including social, economic and ethical uses and awareness of the ways ICT can help in home, learning and work environments. The syllabus combines theoretical and practical studies focusing on the ability to use common software applications to solve problems, including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, interactive presentation software, web browsers and website design.

On the other hand, in Computer Science (0478), learners develop their understanding of the main principles of problem solving using computers. They can apply their understanding to develop computer-based solutions to problems using algorithms and a high-level programming language. It will will help learners appreciate current and emerging computing technologies, the benefits of their use and recognise their potential risks. It helps learners develop an interest in computing and gain confidence in computational thinking.

We strongly suggest that you download both subject syllabus here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ and understand the different scopes of these two.

We hope this helps. Thank you.
