Hello, What specific authors do you recommend for doing well in Chemistry and Maths, Thanks again. 🙂
hi, i am a year 7 student in malaysia in an international school in malaysia. i was wondering where could i buy good revision books for geography, history and science.
I want to know the difference(s) between ICT, computer studies, computer science and computer programming. My son wants to take up one of these computer subjects for his cambridge igcse exam in 2016. Which subject you would recommend?
From the 2015 examination series, Computer Science (0478) syllabus will replace the Computer Studies (0420). So, there will be no more Computer Studies 0420.
There is no “Computer Programming” subject in IGCSE.
Your son has to choose the subject based on his true interest. We definitely can’t do any recommendation as we do not know what he likes and what he plans for his further study.
Here are some information to help you:
ICT (Information Communication Technology) (0417)
The Information Communication Technology syllabus encourages learners to develop lifelong skills, which will be useful to them in their work across the curriculum and prepare them for future employment. They will develop understanding of the implications of technology in society, including social, economic and ethical uses and awareness of the ways ICT can help in home, learning and work environments.
The syllabus combines theoretical and practical studies focusing on the ability to use common software applications to solve problems, including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, interactive presentation software, web browsers and website design. Learners analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate ICT systems, ensuring that they are fit for purpose.
Assessment of the practical tests is hardware and software independent. Any hardware platform, operating system, and applications packages can be used, providing that learners have the opportunity to demonstrate the full range of skills in the syllabus.
Computer Science (0478)
Learners following the Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science syllabus develop their understanding of the main principles of problem solving using computers. They can apply their understanding to develop computer-based solutions to problems using algorithms and a high-level programming language. Learners also develop a range of technical skills, as well as being able to effectively test and evaluate computing solutions. Studying Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science will help learners appreciate current and emerging computing technologies, the benefits of their use and recognise their potential risks.
Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science helps learners develop an interest in computing and gain confidence in computational thinking. It is an ideal foundation for further study at Cambridge International AS and A Level, and the skills learnt can also be used in other areas of study and in everyday life.

Hello there,
We believe most of the major bookstores would carry some suitable IGCSE books. Or you could order online, it takes a week or so to reach you, and save you from going around to hunt your books.

Hi Maya,
All authors are equally good. The most important thing is to do lots of practice.
