Firstly, Is IGCSE equivalent to West African Senior SchooL Certificate (WASSC) conducted by WAEC?
Secondly, Can a holder of University degree still require to write IGCSE in order to become a professional in his/her field?
Third, Will WASSC holder travelling from Nigeria to Europe, North America, South America or Asia for example be required to write IGCSE before giving admission into any university in the aforementioned continents?
Lastly, is IGCSE a professional certification course for the teachers?
1. We do not know what is WASSC nor WAEC. Please check with your local government for this.
2. If you have gotten a university degree, you do not need IGCSE anymore. Unless you want to do further study, and you are missing of one or two subjects from your secondary level, then you could take IGCSE.
3. We do not know the standard level of WASSC, we can’t advise you on this. IGCSE is well-recognised worldwide, so admission into university won’t be any problem.
4. No, IGCSE is not a professional certification course for teachers. If you wish to be a teacher, you must take the teacher’s training courses / the education degree from university.
Hai igcse team.
my son is doing his A levels and AS LEVELS in Dubai.
Once back to india for doing eng studies, how many subjects does he has to take.
Please guide for i am confused
Hi Bibu,
Usually you need 4-5 subjects. But it is still depend on what you want to study in the university. The best way is to find out the university’s entry requirements and go from there.
I am writing from Singapore, my son was exempted from taking mother tongue (Hindi) for the local Primary School Level Exam. So he is slowly becoming out of touch with Hindi. In the coming year we want him to start changing school to take his IGCSE. When I approached a local Indian international school, they said Hindi is to be taken as a second language in the school. My son is weak in Hindi and do not want to take it for his exams. I have two questions (1) Can we drop Hindi and take any other subject instead? (2) If there is no choice, do you have Hindi at the foundation level to take?
You do not need to take this subject if it is not needed for your further study. If you wish to take Hindi at A-Level or foundation level, then you must take this subject at IGCSE level / O-Level.
You can always register this subject as private candidate and sit for the exam with your local British Council.
