  1. I’m planing on studying in the states. So if I take the igcse and get a D on a subject will it become a C+ when I get to the states. Are these grading conversions accurate? Is the igcse equivalent to a high school diploma? Also do these grading conversions work with people studying in a school on the igcse system.

    • Hi Mohamed,

When you a D, it is a D. It won’t “become” anything else. The grading is just a comparison, which means in IGCSE you need 2.3 to get a “D”, but in the US with 2.3 you could get a “C+”.

In other words, IGCSE requires higher marks to achieve a grade compare to US.

  2. if someone could tell me what the final grade requirements were to pass the igcse course since last year it was at least 5 d’s or c’s but i have heard that it is different this year. i take 8 igcse subjects.

    • Hi Elliot,

The group passing only applies if you are taking Cambridge ICE Group Award. You need “C” for 7 subjects to obtain “Pass”.

Just a question for you, why not thinking about getting higher grades let’s say “B” and above? 🙂

  3. I am a grade 10 IGCSE student living in India, and I have been diagnosed with clinical depression and have been advised regular long term therapy. What are the formalities/guidelines/protocol for sitting for the May/June examination as a part-time student? An immediate reply would be immensely appreciated.

    • Hi Rtunjya,

You can always register yourself as “Private Candidate” with any British Council, and write your exams there. You can always decide when and how many subjects you would like to take in one session. Please check with the British Council for the available subjects.

  4. Dear Admin,

Hi, I’m from Malaysia. I want to take the IGSCE. Currently, I’m 14 and I was thinking of scoring PMR so that I could apply to boarding school that offers IGSCE. If I did that, will I miss out on some important things? And I heard from some people that the IGCSE exams are only taken by 16 year old students and below because when I do get in to a boarding school, I’m already 16. Will this be a problem?

    • Hello Mira,

IGCSE does not have any age limit. The age limit is just a rule that schools must abide. You must check with the school if they do have this limitation.
