In the Additional Maths syllabus, it says: ?The Additional Mathematics syllabus is intended for high ability candidates who have achieved or are likely to achieve Grade A*, A, or B in the Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics examination. The curriculum objectives are therefore assessed at one level only (Extended).
Hi! My son was studying in Cambridge system in our country Pakistan. He has given his initially given his O -1 papers in Pakistan but unfortunately we have to move to USA due to my husband course for one year. My son is very upset and he doesn?t want to waste his one year. Someone has told him that he can give his CIE from USA as a private candidate. Please guide me in this regard. Thanks
Hi Hareem,
You can check the British Council at your local area or you can also find a list of registered Cambridge schools in your local area here: https://www.cie.org.uk/i-want-to/find-a-cambridge-school/ and check with the school if they accept a private candidate.

If you are registering as a ?private candidate?, then you must take ?Alternative to Practical – Paper 6?.
The Alternative to Practical paper is simply an alternative mode of assessment to the Practical Examination paper. It requires the same kind of practical work in preparation as the Practical Examination paper. The syllabus (https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/) makes it clear, in the Aims, the Assessment Objectives and Practical Assessment sections, that the course should be taught practically and that candidates should have experience of doing (rather than merely seeing) experimental work. The Alternative to Practical paper assesses their practical skills, including both data handling and familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.
Hello!
May I please ask what the numbers mean in the codes given for each paper component?
For example: 0500/11, 0500/12, 0500/13.
Why are there 3 different types of Paper 1s? Same goes for Paper 2s (0500/21, 0500/22, 0500/23) and 3s (0500/31, 0500/32, 0500/33). What does 1, 2, and 3 mean?
Hello!
This might look like a stupid question but, why are most paper components divided into 3 types? For example, for First Language English, there is Paper 1 (core). But then, it is divided into these: 0500/11, 0500/12, and 0500/13? What do these mean, the 11, 12, and 13?
Thank you for your visit! We have got a new site. Please go to our new site Skolatis.com to leave your comments and continue the hot discussions! See you there!
I just got my results today. I did Maths (0580) Extended, and I got a C grade. Can I do Addtional Maths with this grade?
