I have always been wondering about something I see on some university websites, they say that they accept “GCE”, but when they talk about the subjects required for admission, they only mention A-level subjects, but nothing is mentioned at all about IGCSE subjects, though sometimes they say that they accept IGCSE English as a test for language proficiency. Does that mean I can apply an admission to the university without having to take other IGCSE subjects?
You have to take the relevant subjects required, depending on the course that you want to apply, in order to get an admission into university. Merely taking one subject, IGCSE English, does not get you an admission into university.
A-Level is a different “level” than IGCSE. In a nutshell, A-Level is equivalent to pre-university qualification; IGCSE is a qualification needed to enter A-Level (or some call it pre-university). Though there are some universities do accept IGCSE as an entry to university, but you need to score distinctions in order to get that admission.
hi how to get practice sheets/workbooks(beside the text-books they use in school) for subjects science, maths, mandarin, english, history, geography that students can practice when they are starting year 1 igcse in international schools in malaysia
Alternatively, you can always buy practice sheets or workbooks from your local bookstores. Just a reminder, students might not be able to do the practice sheets / passed exam papers when they haven’t completed the full course. They might be able to solve some questions that they have learnt along the way.
please, kindly explain more on how to study well for IGCSE. not like am scared, its just that i honestly dont understand what am sitting for, which is IGCSE. thanks in advance.
1. You got to make a revision timetable that is suitable for your schedule.
2. Concentrate on the weak topic, and find more exercises to drill on it.
Lastly, you must understand IGCSE is an exam to determine if you could advance to the next level of study – which normally is A-Level or pre-university as some might call it. If you get real distinction, you might even get admitted into university directly.
Hi, my daughter is in public school, she’s in Form 2 (2014). Is there any possibility for my daughter to enrol in IGCSE? But I still want her to continue with the public school and this IGCSE to be done only after school/weekend? Is there any centre offering the courses during weekend only? Can you suggest centre in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor? Thank you.

Hi Aznil,
You can register your daughter as Private Candidate with British Council. They do offer classes for the exams.
