Hello,
My daughter has just given her IGCSE.Now she wants to pursue BFA.,
bachelor of fine arts. She has taken english, art n business at higher
level. N Dt, french n mathematical studies at standard level. She is
planning to apply to UK universities. As one science subject is needed
for BFA. Will DT be considered as a science subject. ( DT = design
technology. )
Many thanx for ur answer in advance.
Regards.
Soumya.
Design and Technology is NOT under the Science subjects group. Design and Technology is under “Business, Technical and Vocational” subjects group.
Here is a list of Science subjects group:
Agriculture
Biology
Chemistry
Environmental Management
Physical Science
Physics
Science ? Combined
Science ? Co-ordinated (Double award)
We would recommend her to take Combined Science. This would enable her to have broader options if she decided to change her mind not to continue with BFA at a later stage.
I am doing my IGCSE O levels In Kenya and I was wondering if it was possible to do 4 subjects Math Eng Bio Chem in January 2015 and be done. Is it possible or do I need one more subject?
Hi Abdirahman,
Your situation is similar with Manisha. Please see our reply to Manisha.
On top of that, though you’re taking all subjects from core subjects area, it is better to have minimum 5 subjects from core subjects area, and 2-3 more from the expansion area such as: Humanities and Social Sciences; Business, Technical and Vocational; and Languages.
Please consult your teacher for subject groups selection based on your progression, and also your plan for your further study.
Hi Manisha,
You need to take all core subjects for O-Level, and choose other subjects which would help in your further study. That, leads to, what do you want to study after your O-Level.
It is better to work backward. Start from what you want to study in University, then find out what are the required subjects for entry qualification.
Hello Serene,
Foundation is the same level as A-Level. You can choose either Foundation or A-Level. They both can get you into university. Well, you must do well of course! 🙂
What if I choose just five subjects i.e., Maths, accounts, English, Urdu, ICT along with Pak Studies and Islamic studies?
Would I be able to qualify the IGCSE?. Pls. guide.
Thanks
Hi Muslim,
Please see our reply to Manisha, and Abdirahman.
Unfortunately, your chosen subjects don’t fulfil the 3 core subjects area, which is: English, Mathematics, Science. Please consult your teacher for advice based on your progression.
