  1. Hi my son will be taking 8 subjects but will not be taking foreign languages . He will be doing English language and literature . Will he be awarded an IGCSe certificate without taking any second language .

    • Hello Raju,
Yes, definitely he would obtain the certificates for all the 8 subjects. It is not necessary to take any second language.

  2. My daughter is interested to be an English lecturer in future. What subjects should she take for IGCSE? Is English Literature important?

    • Hi Yvonne,
Yes, normally English Literature would be one of the required subjects. The entry requirement would not be the same for all the universities in the world though. It is advisable to check with the university that she wants to apply.

  3. hello IGCSE team! i would like to ask~ if i’m need the sertificate, what is the qualification? like we need to get 5 ‘C’ to get the sertificate or?
    please reply my comment! thanks(:

    • Hi Christina,
IGCSE is being awarded individually. If you take 5 subjects, you will obtain 5 certificates. One certificate for each subject. It is not like O-Level where you get one certificate from the overall achievement.

  4. Dear IGCSE team,
I want to take computer science and business studies as a double major later in university, what subjects should i take in the IGCSE’s? Should i do A level as well?

    • Hello Khalid,
For computer science, you may consider: English, Maths, Add Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, ICT

For Business Studies, you may consider: English, Maths, one subject from the Science Group (e.g: Combined Science / Co-ordinated Science etc.), Business Studies, Economics, Accounting.

    • It depends what you want to study in university. If what you want to study doesn’t need Add Maths, then you may drop this subject.
