  2. Hi IGCSE team
My son 15 yrs old is now in Year 10 with an international school here in Malaysia. We were thinking of him doing fast track and sit for his igcse exams in may/june 2016 examination. With this, we are planning of putting him into private Year 11 classes alongside doing his Year 10 classes. My question is will there be any issues that may arise if he take his exams a year earlier? esp when entering for UK university foundation courses or A levels or other higher level courses? Thank you

    • Hi Tess,
You must check with the British Council in your local area for the eligibility of exam entry requirement. On the other hand, you must also check with your son if he is ready enough to sit for the exam in less than a year from now.

      • Hi all

I have my son , I am teaching him at home . I want him to sit for the ICGSE as private candidate.
My question , is that possible ?
Also, Another question : the ICGSE certificate will it group many subjects, or it will be one certificate for each subject ?

        • Hello Tariq,
Yes, your son may sit for the exam as “Private Candidate”. You will obtain one certificate for each subject that you take.

          • Hello
But then , if he had the IGCSE, how will he enter the university ?
Is he eligible to enter any university in the world ?
Will the university request every single certificate ?
Will the university accept those certificates ?
Because I think , it should be one certificate such as Baccalaureate .

          • University will only look into the subjects required for the course he applies. IGCSE is well recognised worldwide. Usually you need to advance to A-Level in order to apply any university. A-Level and IB are equivalent.

          • Thanks very much.
Ok, once my son get the IGCSE, How can he apply for the A-level ? what is the procedure ?
Also, please I have another question : What are the books and the resources to go through before sitting for IGCSE exams , which books and resources for Math, science, physics, chemistry and Computer do you advise ?

          • Hello Tariq,
There are many colleges/private learning centres providing A-Level courses. You may search around. Otherwise, you can also do homeschooling and register your son as “Private Candidate” with any exam centre that takes “Private Candidate”.
