Hello, I would like to know if the IGCSE for english as a second language certificates any level of it, as in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Thank you.
Good day IGCSE team,
I am in desperate need of help
I just relocated to Zambia from South Africa and i am taking the route of homeschooling my kids. my twin girls are starting Grade 3 and my son is starting Grade 1. I need help with regards to how do i register them for the homeschooling curriculum and how do I get the study material, what subjects do they do and where do i get them to sit for exams. I have been to the british council in Lusaka and they could not help me …. please i am desperate as my kids have lost some time and i need them to catch up as i don’t want them to fall behind,
1. Homeschooling does not have any particular curriculum. If you are following the IGCSE programme, just get the IGCSE syllabus from CIE. You do not need to register for homeschooling either.
2. Concerning the subjects, you have to discuss with them when they are reaching Grade 10. Choose the subjects based on what they want to do in the future.
3. There are plenty of study materials in bookstores, just pay a visit to your local bookstores, and you will find lots of study materials available.
4. When your kids are ready for the IGCSE exam, just register them with any nearest British Council. They will write their exams at British Council.
We hope these help. If you need any further information, just feel free to write in. 🙂
Dear IGCSE team
I am going to start with the Cambridge curriculum next year because we are moving away from my current school which is not an International Shool. I have looked at the learning material in the IGCSE curriculum and I have already studied all of the material at my school. The International school which I applied to wants me to do the two years of IGCSE before I can do my AS and A levels. Therefore I would like to know if it is a requirement for me to complete my IGCSE before I can start with A levels. If it is an requirement I would like to know If I can complete the IGCSE in one year if I am not home schooling?
Hi Colenso,
Yes, you need to obtain IGCSE (or equivalent) qualification before you could advance to AS and A-Level. If you are attached with a school, you have to follow the school’s regulation by studying 2 full years of IGCSE. Otherwise, you may consider to register yourself as “Private Candidate” with British Council, and sit for your exam next year, if you prefer.
Hi Chen,
We do not understand your question? Are you saying you wrote the same paper twice, but in 2 different rooms? That is not possible as your candidate ID and exam centre are fixed.
How many required subject to get a full certificate for IGCSE and i dont have any subject to take in Group 2: Humanities and Social science is it okay ?
Thank you for your visit! We have got a new site. Please go to our new site Skolatis.com to leave your comments and continue the hot discussions! See you there!

If you are taking the Cambridge ICE, the group award, you need to take at least one subject from the Group 2.
