  1. My daughter is studying in Mumbai and giving IGCSE exam in Feb 2016. She is giving the following subjects – English, ICT, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Bio. She is dropping second language Hindi. Is she is eligible for taking admission in to Junior colleges in commerce stream in Mumbai (India), HSC board.

  2. In most of the marking scheme answers, the examiners have written IGNORE: “so and so answer”. My teacher says it means ignore the mistake and give mark

What does IGNORE in marking schemes mean?

My first language is urdu and cie is offering it as a second language so I cannot do core subject (first language) can i do advanced levels?? Or first language english when my mother language is urdu??

        • HI Khalid,
There is no “advanced levels” for IGCSE. You can certainly take English First Language if this subject is being offered in your area.

  4. Hi,

this is for my bro. i just wanted to ensure whether he can sit for the exams in following subjects. engish,Econimics,Scince, maths,Business Studies. and we are from Sri Lanka. Thanks in advance.

    • Hello Shamla,
Please get this confirmation from British Council in your local area, if you are a “Private Candidate”. British Council offers different subjects in each country.

  5. Do many universities require all the subjects be printed in one single IGCSE certificate? My daughter is in F2 (8th grade) and wants to take IGCSE French this year. But her school refuses to let her take; the reason is that many universities require all the subjects be printed in one single IGCSE for the enrollment. Is this true? I saw one subject one certificate. Also if my daughter signs up by herself, there will be any changes? Thanks.

    • Hi Sam,
The reason the school refuses, might be (we are only guessing) due to the school is having the Group Award programme. If this is the case, the school can’t let the students simply add in any subject as they wish.

If your daughter is seriously interested in taking French, just register her as “Private Candidate” with your local British Council. She will then just sit for one subject with British Council, and obtain one single certificate for French.
