Aside from the requirement of one English subject, one Other Language, one Maths and one Science, are there any other parameters for what students must study? It doesn’t seem feasible that student could just, for instance, study Biology, and no other scientific subjects.
And secondly, do we have an idea what the % score would be to attain a C Grade, in any of these subjects?
I took my high school diploma from attending school in Arts subject. Now it has been 7 years and I am interested to study science subject because I want to apply for engineering…. will Universities in Pakistan accept my Alevel degree as a private candidate of IGCSE, because I am worried that I will be rejected only because I didn’t attend the school!
Good morning: my son is study in a British school in Spain year 11. He had just finish his MOCKS exams and in the mathematics exam his has had an E in Extended curriculum. His teacher recomended him to take the Core exam, because he think that he can obtain a C, but the problem is that he want to study science in the A level, so he needs mathematics. One of the causes of his low grade is that they hadn’t finished all the mathematics program, and I also think that he has still more than four months to work hard to increase the grade. We are also are thinking about to take Core in June and take Extended in November . Is that possible? And, It’s even worth doing? Thank you.
Hi Maria,
You may try to take Core in June and Extended in November, if that gives your son a peace of mind. Otherwise, we would suggest him to go straight to Extended. Maths is relatively easy. You can see many candidates “screaming” about how hard is the exam on our website, but they all did well by scoring A and even A*.
You may also want to consider to enrol him into our online revision course. That surely would help him a lot.
Hi igcse team
I am taking 6 subject for ig
Eng as 2nd language, bio, phy, chem, math, ict ( all r extended)
I just want to ask is these subjects r fine for getting admition in any university of Canada or do I have to take more subject?
Hi Prithi,
It is not the matter of taking more subjects. The one that matters is the achievement of your grades for these subjects. Plus, you must know if your chosen subjects align with the course that you would like to apply in the university.

Hi Abida,
Yes, you will obtain exactly the same certificates as “Private Candidate”. No one will reject you just because you didn’t attend the school.
Hey, Iam Mithushana.
Iam sitting for my Edexcel IGCSE in 2015, in Sri Lanka.
What is the minimum no.of subjects I could do?
Hi Mithushana,
We are sorry that we do not have any information for Edexcel. Please write to Edexcel for that, ok?
