Hello Wabran,
Your chosen subjects have fulfilled the 5 core subjects. But you still need to check with your local British Council and see if those subjects are available for your area.
You can sit for the exam whenever you are ready. Just register yourself with your local British Council.
Hey IGCSE Team, I am really disappointed because i lost only seven marks and didn’t get a distinction what should i do?? And my predicted grades were not good but my board exam went really well and i expected a 90 plus. Is it because of my predicted grades or the correcting was harsh on me other than other children. i think its not fair.
Hi Lucy,
There is no discrimination when it comes to marking. The examiners do not know you anyway 🙂 … They only see the papers, they don’t see you 🙂
Please don’t have such thinking. If you are not happy with your grades, you can always ask for remarking. For this matter, please write to CIE directly.
Hi Fred,
You will obtain one certificate for one subject. But you must take the 5 core subjects which universities and colleges required. Read the above to find out what are the 5 core subjects.
I’m taking 5 IGCSE subjects which are English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. I would like a three exam timetable for me to improve my grades in preliminary exams.
Thank you.
Hi,
My son is very weak in his French as a Second Language but he has 9 other subjects in which he is going to sit for the grade 10 IGCSE exams including English as First Language, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, ICT,Computer Studies, Business Studies and Geography. I would like to know if he fails in French will he qualify for AS level or will he be held back? Also, will he be required to re-sit for French as a Second Language only and be able to register for his AS level?
Thanks.
Hi Aliya,
If he is not going to take French in A-Level or for his further studies, then it is fine. He can always move on to A-Level, provided all required subjects are inline with A-Level requirements.

Hi IGCSE Team,
I have some questions regarding my subjects and IGCSE.
It would be really great if you could clear them out for me.
Can I appear as a private candidate with the following subjects :-
1.English
2.Maths
3.Business studies
4.Accounting
5.Economics
6.Physics
Also, Is IGCSE equivalent to year 10 or year 11 ?
Can you complete IGCSE in an year ?
I’m new to IGCSE.
Your quick response will be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Wabran.

Is there a required subject combination to get a certificate for IGCSE or one can just sit any choice subject and get a certificate.
