Hi
I wanted to know if maths and 1subejct from science is compulsory to do or not
As I am very weak in these subjects so I would prefer not to do them and it won’t even be used in my life because I won’t to do business. In my dads business these subjects are not required.
Please let me know
Hi Chaitanya,
The requirements for Maths and Science subjects are for your further studies. If you want to further your studies to university, we strongly encourage you to call up the university and have them tell you if these subjects are required as the entry requirement 🙂
Hi, I am 17 this year and sitting for spm. Is it to late for me to switch to igcse? How long will the whole course take because I want to start up my college at 18. With less than a year do you think that I will make it? Because I’ve heard testimonials that igcse takes up to 2 years and it is harder than spm levels.
Hello Annabelle,
SPM is equivalent to IGCSE. When you have gotten your SPM certificates, you do not need IGCSE. You can always proceed to further study with your SPM certificates.
Unless you just want to obtain additional certificates, then you can always register yourself and sit for the exam privately. The IGCSE syllabus is equivalent with SPM. If you have finished the SPM syllabus, you can always take some time to familiarise yourself with the IGCSE exam papers, then register for exams whenever you’re ready. We don’t think you need another 2 years to take IGCSE, but this is still depend on each individual’s capacity.
I have taken 8 subjects, i wrote 6 subjects on oct/nov 2015. I am writing 2 more on March 2016. For the previous 6 subjects i got 5A* 1C. I am writing economics and hindi. I am actually weak at hindi but Iam pretty sure i would get an A/above in Eco. But will only pass in hindi. Will i still get a Distinction?
Hello,
I have read that the minimum requirement of chosen subjects is 5,but this varies according to the schools’ and pupil’s choice. My school has decided 7 and I personally feel I need to concentrate on 5 because the other two are pointless for me and have no interest in. I don’t want to waste money and time on doing something that won’t help me in my career. Could you please write to me a letter stating that my personal preference cannot be discriminated by others’ protective reasons? I would use this to show my school that I am within the range!
Hi Purvi,
If you’re attached to a school, you must follow the regulation of the school. On the other hand, you must also find out if your school is following the ICE, the group award. If yes, then all minimum 7 subjects must be entered in the exam in order to obtain the group award.
We can’t write any letters to anyone. You must discuss this matter with your school calmly first before you stomp to take any inappropriate actions. Please don’t put in your mind that your school is “discriminating” you. In fact, they are doing the very best for you 🙂
Thank you for your reply.I am not too quick on assuming what’s wrong and right. Immoraly,my school thinks they know best. Been in this institute for 11 years, I have better understanding of life, generally! And no, we’re the first batch to transit from edecel to CIE,the group award would be too new for now. I have been talking on behalf of my twin brother who is finding everything tough. To do 7 is pushing him beyond his limits. He was forced today to take 7 and he knows for certain he won’t pass them. There goes the money. And don’t forget, with financial issues life is tough. Our school fees aren’t paid since last term. Anyway, if you can’t help me that’s fine. I’ll try my best to calmly sort this out! 🙂 Thank you for your support,
Sincerely,
Purvi

Is there anything wrong if you don’t do a science subject for igcse ?
