  1. Hi,

I am a mature student from the UK, looking to go into teaching. I want to do IGCSE’s in maths and the sciences by distance learning. I just wanted to ask, can I do my IGCSE’s at any age?

    Best wishes

    Danny

    • Hi Danny,

Yes, you can do IGCSE at any age. Just register yourself as “Private Candidate” with any British Council near you, or schools that accept “Private Candidate”.

Just drop us a line if you need more info.

  2. Hey Admin,
I am currently in year two of igcse. I have taken the following subjects-
    ?English First Language
    ?German Second Language
    ?All three sciences
    ?History
    ?Music
    ?Maths
I am planing to give 6 exams out of these subjects. I will not be giving Music and German.
I was wondering whether this is a good move. Should I keep German as a subject? Are 6 exams enough to get a IGCSE certificate? Will this choice help me go to a better school for Grade 11 and 12? I am not planing to continue with A levels. I am maybe going to change to IB curriculum since colleges from where I come, do not accept A levels. Is this a good choice? Thanks

    • Hi Noname,
Your chosen 6 subjects fulfil the minimum core subjects, so you’re fine.

IGCSE certificate is separate according to each subject. Meaning, if you take 6 subjects, you will have 6 certificates for each subject. If you take 10 subjects, then you’ll have 10 certificates.

IGCSE is well recognised, even if you want to change to IB later. Just make sure that your IB subjects are related to your IGCSE.

  3. Hello,
I have already taken my IGCSE’s and i was wondering if i got a bad grade (eg E Grade), would it matter if i were to apply to US universities? Do they value IGCSE’s? or do they treat it as a normal final exam?. This is because the major that i would like to do has nothing to do with the subject with the bad grade

    • Hi Barry,
IGCSE is well recognised worldwide, including US. So, no problem for applying US universities.

If the major you’re applying has nothing to do with the bad-grade subject, then you could just rest assure your application will be well considered.

  4. Hi, my name is Bharat and I’m in India. My question is that is it compulsory to pass in both languages to qualify for ice .. What if you fail in one of the languages?
Or what if you have 8 subjects and you get a D in one of the languages. Will it be counted?

    • Hi Bharat,
You must have English in one of the language you choose, and you must pass it.

We do not know which language subject you gotten a “D”, plus if your future plan involves this language? If it does, then it will be counted.

    • Hi Ai,
You can write IGCSE any time.

But, if you have A-Level, you don’t need IGCSE again. Provided you want to achieve better grades on certain IGCSE subjects that are required by university entry requirements.
