  2. Dear IGCSE Centre,

I have taken Accounting, Economics, Business, Language and Literature in English and Mathematics for my AS and A Levels. School has halted virtual learning sessions till June and i want to get a headstart again. I found a copy of the IGCSE Accounting Textbook.

Is Accounting more of a practical or more of a theoretical subject?

Can I use the IGCSE Accounting textbook for AS Level for the time being?

    Thanks

    • Hello Druv,

With Accounting, you need to learn and understand the key concepts and formulas first. The Accounting textbook can help you with this. Once you familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas, then you can start practicing with past exam papers.

Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.

Furthermore, you must develop greater analytical skills and learn to extract information from scenarios to make your answers relevant.

  3. Hi I am going to join AS and A level soon and I was wondering which papers are we supposed to do in AS level and which paper to do in A level for biology and chemistry. Another doubt was how do you think I should prepare to start learning for the first time.

    • Hello there,

Please kindly download the subject syllabus here: https://www.igcsecentre.com/cambridge-international-as-a-level-syllabuses/ to know the required paper components for AS Level and A Level.

We suggest that you start as early as possible. Revise the subject from the beginning. Go through the syllabus and highlight the important facts that you think could be on the test and list down things you are confident and not so sure about.

Practice with the latest past exam papers and continue with the older ones dated back from 5 to 10 years. Make notes on the common mistakes you always seem to make. Read and annotate your textbook for the questions you got wrong.
